Male chauvinists are to blame for America's trend toward high divorce rates in the starting of 1970s.

Male chauvinists are to be blamed for high divorce rates because they didn't respect their wives. “Women went on strike against the men who wanted them to cook and make beds while the men went around in cars organizing (Zinn).” They expect their wives to do all the house works. This makes wives feel they are unimportant in their husband's eyes. This will lead to divorce.

Also, male chauvinists are to be blamed for high divorce rate because they want to clarify whose low self-esteem. Due to "Jennifer Fever", male chauvinists leave their family to find their “"Jennifer” to prove that they are still attractive. This will lead frustration to their wives, and increase divorce rate.

Popular TV shows from 1970s also show that chauvinists are the cause of the rise of divorce rate. Archie said to his daughter after he knew his daughter’s applying a job, “You ain't applying for no job, a women's price is till in the home.” If a husband tried to stop his wife from doing her “creative job”, then the marriage most likely won’t last for long. It will result in a no-fault divorce and increase divorce rate.
